Temple University Selects AdvanceTEC for Cleanroom Construction of the Science Education and Research Center

AdvanceTEC’s proven university and nanotechnology experience key to selection

Richmond, VA, May 27, 2014 – AdvanceTEC, a leader in cleanroom design and construction, today announced that it has been selected by Temple University to provide cleanroom construction for the College of Science and Technology’s (CST) new Science Education and Research Center (SERC). The $137 million facility, being constructed on the university’s North Philadelphia main campus, will provide technology and modern lab spaces for student learning and research – including advanced nanotechnology materials research. SERC will contain leading-edge labs and classrooms to attract talented scholars and provide students with opportunities for exploration and investigation.

AdvanceTEC was selected for the SERC project through a competitive bidding process. Key factors leading to AdvanceTEC’s selection included the company’s capabilities and expertise, proven experience with nanotechnology and university projects, and overall competitiveness of bid and execution plan.

“AdvanceTEC is excited to be a part of this transformative project for Temple University as they seek to expand scientific exploration, attract additional research funding, and bring new discoveries to market,” noted Bryan Phelan, AdvanceTEC managing partner and director of sales, marketing and preconstruction services. “We understand the vision for SERC, and our proven experience with nanotechnology and university projects provides the foundation to deliver to that vision with a successful project completed on time and on budget.”

As a part of the project, AdvanceTEC will be responsible for the cleanroom construction, clean build protocol, and nanotech process infrastructure. AdvanceTEC will be an integral part of the overall construction team led by Turner Construction, the construction manager for the SERC facility. Turner and AdvanceTEC have previously collaborated on a number of successful projects.

About Temple University: College of Science and Technology
The College of Science and Technology (CST), with more than 4,000 students, is one of Temple University’s fastest growing schools. At CST, students work side-by-side with experienced faculty researchers in the lab, in the field and in the classroom. Since 2007, external funding for advanced research has more than doubled, creating new opportunities for CST faculty to take on today’s toughest scientific challenges. CST offers more than 30 high-tech majors and a growing number of advanced degree options. Skilled instruction, small upper-level class sizes and state-of-the-art equipment mean students are exposed to the latest ideas and advances in their fields. The college's new Science Education and Research Center, scheduled for completion in summer 2014, will be one of the most advanced facilities of its kind on the East Coast.
