National Institute of Standards and Technology Selects AdvanceTEC to Perform NanoFab Upgrades

Latest award follows successful completion of multiple projects at NIST’s Nanofab Cleanroom and Advanced Measurement Laboratory (AML)

Richmond, VA, November 4, 2016 – AdvanceTEC, a leader in cleanroom engineering, design, construction and process integration, today announced that it has been awarded a major system upgrade project by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its advanced NanoFab in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As a part of this project, AdvanceTEC will replace, renovate and upgrade the UPW (ultra-pure water – E.102 grade) and LWN (lab waste neutralization) system.

This latest award is a part of AdvanceTEC’s multiyear IDIQ contract from to perform turn-key process infrastructure and cleanroom tool installation services for NIST at its NanoFab and Advanced Measurement Laboratory (AML), both located at its main campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Most recently, AdvanceTEC completed the entire replacement, renovation and upgrade of the TGMS (Toxic Gas Monitoring System) at the NIST Nanofab, a critical project focused on enhancing the life-safety needs of the facility. AdvanceTEC has also recently completed multiple process tool installation projects at NIST, including metrology, spray acid and rapid thermal anneal (RTA) tools.

“AdvanceTEC is proud to once again support NIST’s mission to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness,” commented Bryan Phelan, AdvanceTEC managing partner and director of sales, marketing and preconstruction services. “We understand that NIST’s objectives within the NanoFab and the AML rely on having world-leading process equipment and the optimal infrastructure to enable top functionality. As we have proven over multiple projects and many years working with NIST, AdvanceTEC’s technical capabilities, experience and commitment are critical to enabling the performance and long-term effectiveness of NIST’s advanced facilities.”

About the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. It’s mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve quality of life.

  • About the NanoFab – The NanoFab is a part of NIST’s Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST), supporting the U.S. nanotechnology enterprise from discovery to production by providing industry, academia, and other government agencies with access to world-class nanoscale measurement and fabrication methods and technology. The shared-use NanoFab gives researchers economical access to and training on a state-of-the-art tool set for cutting-edge nanotechnology development.
  • About the Advanced Measurement Laboratory (AML) – The NIST AML Complex offers world leading research facilities, providing an unprecedented combination of features designed to virtually eliminate environmental interferences that undermine research at the very tip of the leading edge of measurement science and technology.
