Howard University Selects AdvanceTEC for Nanotech Process Tool Install at the Interdisciplinary Research Building

AdvanceTEC’s cleanroom integration, leadership, and proven track record brings leading HBCU to the technology forefront.

Richmond, VA, January 26, 2021 –   AdvanceTEC, the leader in cleanroom integration and mission critical processes, today announced that the company has been awarded the process tool design-build integration project located in the Interdisciplinary Research Building at Howard University. The cleanroom, which was originally optimized and constructed by AdvanceTEC, will house Howard’s nanotechnology process tools and equipment for students to hone their skills in technology and faculty to perform leading edge grant work.

Howard University, an accredited academic institution on the White House Initiative HBCU list, selected AdvanceTEC for this critical project based on the company’s proven execution of cleanroom construction and unmatched expertise in 3D BIM / VDC modeling, VR reviews, and their cohesive team approach to the project.

“Throughout the construction of the cleanroom in the Interdisciplinary Research Building, AdvanceTEC demonstrated their high level of technical expertise and trustworthy business ethics to the University,” commented Dr. Bruce A. Jones, professor and vice president for Research. “When it came time to select a partner to perform the nanotech tool installation, AdvanceTEC was the clear choice. They have proved their ability to get the job done right, maintain schedule, and met our high expectations.”

Derrek Niec-Williams, Howard’s executive director of Campus Planning, Architecture & Development added, “Heading into this project it was apparent that AdvanceTEC’s proven track record of building out our cleanroom would carry over to this new project. The AdvanceTEC team provides a thorough analysis of the project requirements, detailed coordination of materials, and are genuinely committed to a transparent approach with our team. The speed of which the AdvanceTEC team operates at is truly remarkable.”

“AdvanceTEC is excited to once again be working with Howard University, a leader in STEM education and a top producer of African American undergraduates pursuing careers in this technology,” noted Bryan Phelan, AdvanceTEC managing partner and director of customers. “Leaders like Howard understand what it takes to provide the necessary resources to their students to give them a competitive edge when they enter the workplace.”

AdvanceTEC has commenced digital scanning all existing process tools, gases and support systems, and is currently in a collaborative design process with the project leaders within Howard University.  On-site construction is set to start in Q1 and will be complete and certified by mid-2021. AdvanceTEC has performed successful project of this advanced nature for other leading universities such as Duke, City College of New York, University of Waterloo (Canada), and NYU.
