Bryan Phelan
Managing Partner, Director of Sales, Marketing and Preconstruction Services
Bryan Phelan became a partner at AdvanceTEC in 2007, and was elected managing partner in 2009. As managing partner, Phelan is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction, shaping the company’s strategic direction, and managing day to day operations of all aspects of the organization. Phelan is also directly responsible for leading the company’s sales, marketing and preconstruction activities.
Phelan has nearly two decades of industry experience leading sales, marketing and strategic business development efforts, both domestically and internationally. His experience spans cleanroom design/build and semiconductor production applications. Phelan began his career serving clients in design/build cleanroom requirements with Liberty Industries, and later with Cleanroom Engineering Division of Cleanroom Products where he served as regional sales manager. Phelan has also held leadership positions at semiconductor process and infrastructure firms, including roles as director of North American sales at Entegris, Inc., vice president at LTX Corporation, and vice president of worldwide sales at ReVera Corporation.
Phelan holds a B.S. in Communications from Ohio University and is a recipient of the Contributions Award from the School of Interpersonal Communications.

John Burton
Partner/Founder, Director of Engineering and Technology
John Burton founded AdvanceTEC in 2000. In his role as director of engineering and technology, Burton is responsible for conceptual design, engineering, code compliance, quality and construction implementation.
Burton has nearly 20 years experience designing and constructing cleanrooms for advanced technology applications. He has personally directed the design and construction of well over 150 cleanrooms, ranging from Class 1 to Class 100,000, from Grade A to Grade D, and from BSL1 to BSL3. His strong knowledge of the critical elements involved in the design and construction of cleanrooms environments, including mechanical, architectural, electrical, structural, controls and process systems, has been proven to streamline design and enhance coordination of all aspects of cleanroom construction. Prior to founding AdvanceTEC, Burton was the design manager for Performance Contracting, Inc. and a senior project engineer for the Cleanroom Engineering Division of Cleanroom Products.
Burton holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, graduating second in his class at the University of Miami. While at the University of Miami, he received the C. Edwards Award for overall excellence in engineering, served as president of the University’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and was a member of the Pi Tau Sigma engineering honor society. Burton is an associate member of NFPA (2001) and ASHREA (1993), and is certified in plumbing engineering.
Glenn Wakefield, PE
Director of Operations and Corporate Safety
Glenn Wakefield joined AdvanceTEC in 2008 as director of operations and corporate safety. In this role, Wakefield is responsible for field operations and safety compliance, including support of AdvanceTEC’s project managers and construction site supervisors. In addition, Wakefield oversees the daily internal operations of the company.
Wakefield has over 12 years of proven project management and project controls experience serving a variety of technology applications, most notably semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining AdvanceTEC, he spent 11 years with Jacobs Engineering at several locations in a variety of capacities. During his time at Jacobs, Wakefield’s responsibilities included management of satellite engineering offices, leadership roles in the Project Controls organization, and on-site construction management including budget and schedule responsibility. Projects included traditional “stick built” and modular construction execution strategies, where he led multiple interactive scheduling sessions on projects upwards of $100M in contract value. Wakefield’s safety experience includes developing site and corporate safety manuals, performing and developing site audit procedures, developing critical lift plans, and supporting the development of a company safety culture.
Wakefield holds B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is a licensed professional engineer. Wakefield’s recent continuing education includes seminars and courses in cleanroom design, HVAC principles and NFPA Life Safety.
