John Burton founded AdvanceTEC in 2000. In his role as director of engineering and technology, Burton is responsible for leading conceptual design, project estimating, advanced engineering, and continuous improvement.  

Burton has three decades of industry experience engineering, designing and constructing cleanrooms and process infrastructure for numerous advanced technology applications. He has personally directed and led the design and construction of well over 500 cleanrooms, ranging from Class 1 to Class 100,000, from Grade A to Grade D and Controlled Non-Classified (CNC), and from BSL1 to BSL3; including metals free trace metals facilities and advanced laboratories. His industry leading knowledge of the critical elements involved in the design and construction of cleanroom environments, including mechanical, architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, controls and process systems, has been proven to streamline design, enhance coordination, and optimize both upfront capital costs and ongoing operational costs. Prior to founding AdvanceTEC, Burton was the design manager for Performance Contracting, Inc. (PCI) and a senior project engineer for the Cleanroom Engineering Division of Cleanroom Products.

Burton holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, graduating second in his class at the University of Miami. While at the University of Miami, he received the C. Edwards Award for overall excellence in engineering, served as president of the University’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and was a member of the Pi Tau Sigma engineering honor society. Burton is an associate member of NFPA (2001) and ASHREA (1993), and is certified in plumbing engineering.
