Merck Awards AdvanceTEC, LLC with Design Build Contract for HPV Program

Richmond, VA (September, 2008) – AdvanceTEC, LLC of Richmond, VA has been awarded multiple design and construction contracts by Merck & Co. (Whitehouse Station, NJ) and Jacobs Engineering (Pasadena, CA).
AdvanceTEC will build nearly 50,000 square feet of cGMP cleanroom space for Merck’s HPV (human papillomavirus) product facility expansion in Elkton, VA. The program consists of two large Purification Facilities, a Fermentation Line Expansion, and a Weigh and Dispense facility all on Merck’s Rockingham County, VA campus.
AdvanceTEC is providing full design packages for production suites for Merck’s industry leading HPV vaccine Gardasil. AdvanceTEC was contracted to work collectively with Merck and the Jacobs Engineering EPCM project team to select the architectural finishes for the cGMP facility and coordinate the construction of the interstitial areas as well as door controls, interlocks, and hardware.
Since its founding in 2000, Richmond-based AdvanceTEC has designed and built nearly 1 million square feet of cleanroom and laboratory space. With notable clients like Fleet Laboratories, Helvoet Pharma, Northrop Grumman and NASA, they’ve become well-known in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, microelectronics, and nanotechnology fields.
Some of AdvanceTEC’s most recent projects include the Duke University’s Center for Integrated Engineering, Medicine and Applied Sciences in the Pratt Engineering Building, University of Maryland, and a multi-project award for a confidential North America based high purity materials manufacturer for the solar and semiconductor markets.
